2008 Award Program:

The Central Section APA-CA is announcing its local awards program.  These awards recognize and reward planning excellence in the central region of California.  The Central Section is comprised of:

Fresno, Inyo, Kern, Kings, Madera, Mariposa, Merced, Mono, Stanislaus, Tulare, and TuolumneCounties.

AWARD CATEGORIES: Awards will be presented in the following five categories:

1. Outstanding Planning:

2. Leadership and Service:

3. Planning Achievement:

4. Journalism/Media:

5. Planning Landmark and Pioneer:

This is also a Call For Nominations for the 2008 Statewide APA awards.  Nominations for APA Statewide awards must be submitted to the local section first.  Award winners at the local level will be forwarded for consideration at the state level.

APA-CA 2008 Conference:

“Lights, Planning, Action!” Mark your calendars, the APA-CA 2008 Conference will be held in the fabulous, exciting City of Hollywood, September 21-24, 2008!

Call for Presentations are being accepted until January 21, 2008. Please submit your abstracts as soon as possible to be considered to present at the  2008 Conference. The Call for Presentations submission form can be accessed on www.calapa.org. Click on the on the Conference link to print the Call for Presentations submission form.

Conference highlights will include “Hollywood” Style Opening Reception, over 100 conference sessions, 10  mobile workshops, Consultants Reception, Awards Luncheon, Dynamic Keynote  Speakers, and the CPF Live and Silent Auction/Reception. A tentative schedule and on-line registration will be available on the website in early January.

The host hotel will be at the beautiful Renaissance Hollywood. Hotel reservations can now be made by going to www.calapa.org and clicking on the 2008 Conference link.

Exhibitor space and Sponsorships are now being accepted. Only 10 booths  and 6 tabletops remain. Sponsorship and Exhibitor Submission forms are available on www.calapa.org.

Annual Sierra Retreat in September:

We are very pleased to report that the annual Sierra Retreat, which the Central Section has sponsored for 15 years will take place this year.  The annual retreat is one of the Section’s most anticipated and enjoyed programs. Each year planners, associated professionals, and their families gather by refreshing Sequoia Lake for a great combination of camaraderie and professional development mixed with some relaxing, swimming, boating, and fishing  and other activities for all members of the family. 

 

Please plan on joining us thist year lakeside at beautiful Sequoia Lake in the cool Sierra for the 16th Annual Retreat. The Retreat will take place on September 5-7, 2008 at beautiful Camp Sequoia.
